We develop model-order reduction methods that capture the dynamics of nonsmooth piecewise linear systems. Our approach extends the parametrization method of invariant manifolds from smooth to nonsmooth systems, allowing us to parametrize their invariant cones and use them to derive accurate reduced-order models.

Material modeling using fractional derivatives
We develop material models for long time-scales using fractional calculus, i.e. derivatives of non-integer order with respect to time. The resulting constitutive equations are used in finite element simulations in order to calculate the deformation processes of concrete structures. A verification of the methodology is realized by comparison with experimental data from creep and relaxation tests with concrete samples.
