Remco Leine is Full Professor for Nonlinear Mechanics and since 2014 director of the Institute for Nonlinear Mechanics at the University of Stuttgart. He received the M.Sc. degree from Delft University of Technology and the Ph.D. degree from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, in 1996 and 2000, respectively. In 2007 he received the Habilitation degree from the ETH Zurich and became Titularprofessor in 2012. 

He was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Technical University Munich, the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et Automatique (INRIA) Rhône-Alpes, Grenoble and the ETH Zurich. He was granted a fellowship from the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences in 2002. His research interests include the intersection of nonsmooth dynamics and nonlinear dynamics: stability theory for nonsmooth systems, friction-induced vibration and nonlinear phenomena, bifurcations in nonsmooth dynamical systems, and multibody systems with impact and friction.
